Warm weather makes me giddy! Oh I just love the way the birds come out to sing, the sun takes the bite of chill out of the air, and the way my house smells with all the windows open. I was so inspired by spring recently, that I decided to switch out some decorations for more color and vibrance, only, I couldn’t find much of that in my stash of decor. It would appear that, despite my love for color, I’ve stuck with boring browns and beiges for decor items. This just would not do for the season we are in!
I came up with a few solutions literally within half an hour. These little projects add a touch of spring to our house that I had been craving. So, without further ado…
Now, there are several little projects that I would like to feature: the antique books, twine vase, fabric flowers, and the printable sign. Let’s start with the sign:
Love that message! I never used to create printables to display in picture frames, but now I wonder why? It’s so easy to add great color, an inspirational message, or cool design to any shelf with them. If you are interested in making this exact same little sign, you can download the free printable by clicking the picture below! Then stick it in a beautiful frame and let it grace your bookshelf.
Moving on, let’s take a look at those books…
You may recall my husband’s Great Aunt’s house that I’ve mentioned before. It’s this huge old farmhouse that is full of their treasures and sit’s empty in the country near our home. From time to time I like to browse around all the antiques to see what I can find, like these books.
They are fascinating to look through! But not much to look at when color is needed.
A little scrapbook paper for the bindings fixed that problem. I cut the paper down to size and secured it with a little tape (but not too much so as to preserve the delicate covers).
That vase was another incredibly simple project. I just took a little twine, hot glued one end to the top, wrapped it around, and hot glued the other end.
Now, I’ll confess, the flowers are not quite so quick and simple. This was actually my wedding bouquet! I love that we used fabric flowers that can be preserved through the years. I might start bugging my sister for some tutorials as she was the genius behind most of them.
Don’t you just love color? I sure do!
Curious about that gorgeous cabinet they are sitting in? I have a complete tutorial on it, but you’ll have to wait. Happy spring to all of you!
