About

I asked my husband to write my about page, but would you believe it? He refuses! Well, I guess I’ll have to do it on my own.
Hi, I’m Rebekah. Not Becky, Becca, or Becks. Just Rebekah. I am incredibly blessed and I’d like to tell you why. So, lets grab a cup of coffee together (figuratively, although I really would love to grab a cup of coffee with every one of you for real) and I’ll talk your ear off a little.
My childhood wasn’t exactly as traditional as some. I grew up in the country in an old school. Yeah, that’s right. My parents were not rich when they were first married, but my Dad had construction experience. When this school building came up for sale for a good deal they snatched it up and remodeled it. It’s now a duplex with in-law quarters. We had five acres to run around barefooted with our many animals and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. It was a wonderful childhood.
I climbed up a tree and took this picture. That’s our horse, Larry. Horses were a big part of my growing up. I loved them. I spent hours riding around the fields and trails near our house, most of the time bareback.

My aunt owns a Friesian farm which lent many opportunities to perform. I was involved in a Vaulting team for 10 years and it was the most fun I’d ever had. Vaulting is gymnastics on horse back if you didn’t know…a lot of people don’t.

This was probably one of our best performances at the Midwest Horsefair. If you would like to see more, visit my aunts youtube page or blog.

This is a pony that was my buddy and I just had to include her. Cindy was born and raised at our house.

I have three awesome siblings, all younger. Oh yeah…we raised a deer once Steve.

Another big part of my growing up was my heritage. My Dad is an immigrant from Romania. He has a really amazing story of how he escaped the communist country. I’d like for him to finish the book he started, but with no luck. Anyway, when I was 11 we moved to Romania for fourteen months to spend time with his family, learn about our roots, and do a little mission work. My mom kept a diary and it was put together as a blog, which you can read by clicking here.

On to my adult life…

I loved college. High school was ok, but college was awesome! I’ve always been outgoing, so getting the opportunity to interact with so many new people every day was heaven for me. I got involved with my church’s college youth group, which kept me really busy. There was literally something going on every night and I rarely missed anything. I’m telling you about this time of my life because if it wasn’t for the good ol’ ICC/BU Young Group, I would not have met and fallen in love with the man of my dreams. Coincidentally, I was the girl of his dreams. Literally, he dreamed he would marry a blond girl with a long last name before he met me. So, Brian was a few years older than me in school and I’ll be honest, I don’t remember the first time we met. In my defense, I had tons of people to meet, and to him, I was the only new girl. I could give you the long version of our love story, and if you want to hear it, feel free to email me, but basically, we got to know each other through this young group, found we both have a passion for Christ and attraction for each other and on July 1st, 2012 we got married.

You can read a little bit about our wedding in my “DIY Budget Wedding” post.

Since then we’ve done a lot of cool things: went to Alaska, bought a house, had a baby….

That’s baby Jordan! He is the absolute joy of our lives. We just adore him so much.

Some other things about me:

  • I’m extremly Type A
  • Definitely an “oldest child” and maybe a little bossy at times
  • I love to save money and hate shopping!
  • I’m not afraid of power tools
  • Apparently I say words like “clothes” and “exactly” weird
  • My favorite TV show ever was Chuck, which my husband introduced me to.
  • I’m not much of a reader, I’d rather be doing real things.
  • I don’t love cooking, but I’ll do it
  • I rearrange the furniture in our house frequently

So, that’s me. Now that our coffee is cold and you’ve heard more about me than you’d probably like, let me hear about you! Use any of the social media platforms below to tell me your story
